BArcelona could benefit greatly from Italy’s World Cup exit. According to reports in several Italian media outlets, Alessandro Bastoni’s sending off against Bosnia and Herzegovina means that the centre-back, who has also had a highly irregular season at Inter, will be questioned further and that neither the club nor the fans will care about his departure. The defender is one of the options Barcelona are considering to strengthen their defence.
“Even if he was booed for a false start against Karl, he risks being sent off in the crucial final against Bosnia and he risks storming out. At that moment, perhaps Barcelona becomes the perfect island to escape to,” reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.
price reduction
Barcelona have identified 26-year-old Bastoni as a challenge for the future, but the main obstacle to signing him is his price.
Inter, who has a contract until 2028, have a price tag of 70 million euros for him, but Barra believes this is too high and is unwilling to pay him. The Italian side claim that the defender’s difficult situation could cause Milan’s club manager to lower his demands.
The footballer is also keen to change things up and direct his career to the Spotify Camp Nou. Bastoni, who was trained at Atalanta, has appeared in 35 games this season. He joined Inter from Parma in 2019 and has made 293 appearances so far. He has 43 international caps.
