SFrom the age of 19, Antonella Roccuzzo accompanied her husband when they left Argentina for Barcelona. She has shared Lionel Messi’s greatest moments in football, his time at PSG, his current spell at Inter Miami, all his matches with the Argentina national team and, of course, his coronation as world champion in Qatar in 2022.
However, she shows the most dedication to her three children, Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro, “what has changed her the most as a woman.” Despite this, she revealed that she was able to find a balance between motherhood and her personal and professional life.
Antonella reveals how she coped with motherhood
In the midst of fame and football, Leo and Ant started a family. Their first son, Thiago, was born in November 2012. He is currently 14 years old. A few years later, 11-year-old Mateo was born in September 2015. The couple held a wedding on June 30, 2017, and almost a year later, in March 2018, their third son, Ciro, who is now 8 years old, was born.
Far from the glamor of soccer’s most famous families, her daily life revolves around being close to her children and spending quality time with them. For Antonella, there is no doubt that being a mother is the most important thing in her life.
“The thing that changed me the most as a woman was becoming a mother, because from that moment on, my children became my priority,” she confessed in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar Mexico.
Now that her children are a little older, the Argentinian model reveals that she is “enjoying herself in ways that she couldn’t do before,” laughing as she admits that she “feels like an old woman.”
The truth is that Ant has recently delved deeper into his business career, collaborating with multiple brands such as Adidas, Tiffany & Co., Stanley, and Anastasia Beverly Hills, in addition to his business and philanthropy and charity work in his home country. But finding balance wasn’t always easy. And it certainly didn’t attract public attention.
“I’m really enjoying this stage where the kids aren’t so little anymore, because I value myself in a different way and center myself as well. This is something new and I’m going to experience it little by little,” she reflected.
Surrounded by football, Thiago, Mateo and Ciro attend the academy of Inter Miami, the same team as their father, but that’s not the only thing they enjoy. As Roccuzzo revealed, building with Lego is one of the family’s favorite pastimes. “My kids and I have a kind of museum of all our Lego creations,” she said, admitting that she also enjoys watching movies.
In this way, Antonella has chosen to move far away from the media spotlight that surrounds her life with Lionel Messi and build her identity in a deeper, more authentic place: now as a devoted mother and a passionate professional.
