CComparisons between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are endless, but new statistics were released after the weekend, proving that the Inter Miami striker is the winner for both, proving he is more up-to-date than ever and doesn’t need a penalty to make his mark.

Both Messi and Cristiano have been found to score a lot of goals from the penalty spot, but when you remove those goals from both their careers, there is a clear winner between the players who have scored more goals, which was the recent revelation of X’s account.

A new showdown between Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo

Soccer statisticians are working tirelessly and have come up with some numbers that give us a lot to think about when it comes to comparing Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Both players have made history and scored an incredible number of goals, but without penalties things change.

Ronaldo has scored more goals than Messi and is approaching 1,000 goals, but if you remove penalties from his record his numbers drop significantly.

After the previous two goals, Messi reached 786 goals with non-penalty goals, and Ronaldo reached 783 goals. These numbers are still very good, but they illustrate an important point. Everyone can draw their own conclusions as Ronaldo is more of a goalscorer due to his penalty goals.

Javier Mascherano’s honest reaction about Lionel Messi’s level

Last weekend, Inter Miami won a hard-fought battle against Orlando City, with Lionel Messi once again the team’s star player. The Argentine scored twice and received praise from fans and coaches.

After the match, Inter Miami coach Javier Maccherano spoke about Messi’s current level ahead of the World Cup, explaining that he is still the best.

“Leo, in addition to what I have already said a thousand times, is clearly the best player to have ever played this sport…He is a leader and as a leader he infects others and often has to infect others,” Mascherano said.

Coach Mascherano explained that Messi was able to find his role in the second half. “I thought he looked a lot better in the second half…We started to find spots and positions where he felt comfortable and we were also able to give him more options from there.”
