THis season isn’t over yet, but it is over for Rodrigo Goes. On Tuesday, March 3, it was confirmed that the Real Madrid star suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee during the 1-0 defeat against Getafe.
Unfortunately, this means he will have to say goodbye to his season with Los Merengues and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he had hoped to defend the Brazilian colors. Despite the pain of this moment, his teammates and team showed support.

The 25-year-old star player shared one of the most heartbreaking posts of his career on his official Instagram account, announcing his injury and subsequent sideline.
Rather than sugarcoating the situation and declaring it “one of the worst days of my life,” he expressed deep remorse and was more than clear about his beliefs and passion for soccer. He also took the time to thank his fans and loved ones.
“Thank you everyone for your prayers, messages and love! You all mean so much to me. Even though things are very difficult right now, I promise I will not stop here. I believe I still have a lot of great things to experience and bring joy to everyone who trusts in me. See you soon… God remains in control of everything,” he wrote, along with two photos and a video showing the exact moment of the injury.
After announcing that this injury would keep him off the field for at least six months, Rodrygo received multiple displays of affection.
Real Madrid, the Brazilian Football Federation and Santos FC, where he started his career in the club’s youth organization in 2011, shared a post on Instagram wishing him a speedy recovery and the strength to cope with this injury.
Fans also left messages such as, “Rhodri, get well soon,” “Cheer up, I’ll be waiting for you,” and “Que Deus te abenoe e boa recuperao” (God bless you and have a speedy recovery).

Additionally, his teammates David Alaba, Vinicius Jr., Thibaut Courtois and Jude Bellingham were also among those who shared messages with him about their stories.
“Meu Mano!!!! Get well soon!!! Stay strong and stay close to your loved ones. God bless you! We are waiting for you… @rodrygogoes,” Vini wrote.
“We’re with you, brother. @rodrygogoes,” Alaba shared. “We’re all with you, brother, you’ll be back stronger than ever! @rodrygogoes,” Bellingham said.
The Real Madrid goalkeeper also sent a message to Rodrygo: “Cheer up, my friend! I believe you will come back stronger than ever. We are here to support you and help you in every way @rodrygogoes.”

Undoubtedly, this is a nice gesture to comfort and calm Goes during a time that many athletes must go through, but it’s not something anyone would wish on even their worst rival.
