JMourinho did not go through the press room before the match between Benfica and AVS. The Portuguese coach made two short statements on the club’s official TV channel, speaking about the aftermath of the game against Real Madrid and saying that he expected Orsnes to be absent from the league match.
Speaking after Tuesday’s match against Real Madrid, Mourinho said of his players’ fitness: “The game was really tough in all aspects. It was a game that required maximum effort, both physically and tactically, until the 50th minute, and we had the concentration that is required for a game of that level.”
“But I also have to admit that from 51 minutes to now, and this is not the end of the conversation, it hasn’t been easy to emotionally control what happened and what’s still happening,” he said of the controversy. “However, we have an important game tomorrow and it is essential for our ambitions and dreams to win, so we must remain focused and try to play at the highest level.”
From a purely sporting point of view, “Luka is suspended, but it is safe to expect that Olsnes will be suspended. So we have some hope that he will be able to play in Madrid. He is not fit to play tomorrow. We will do something, always remembering that the game is difficult and we have to win.”
