IIt’s been almost three years since Eden Hazard decided to end his career after an injury-plagued sudden appearance at Real Madrid.
The Belgian playmaker reflected on that time in an interesting interview with the Guardian newspaper. “My life is very simple. I’m a father of five children. I’m more of a taxi driver than a footballer now, but that’s OK,” said the former Lille and Chelsea player, who continues to live in Madrid. “I made this decision for my family, my children, the weather and food,” he said.“Life passes very quickly, especially in football. Yesterday I was 19, today I am 35. You have to enjoy everything, not just football,” Hazard reflected.

Hazard also shared a memorable anecdote from Jose Mourinho’s time as Chelsea manager. “I went to Lille to watch a game and on the way back I lost my passport. I was late and missed practice. In the next game he took me out of the team and said it was my fault.”

However, he highlighted another moment in Belgium, saying: “The 2018 World Cup was amazing. I had the chance to play with my brother. It was incredible to be captain of my country. At the time we felt Belgium were great. We didn’t win, but now they say we’re a better team than France and I’m proud of that.”
