VThis year, Valentine’s Day brought us some amazing moments, with some of the most famous couples in sports celebrating their love. And, of course, Lionel Messi and Antonella Rocuzzo are no exception.
The Argentine star surprised his wife with a romantic gesture on February 14th, and it’s already making headlines around the world, just like his exploits on the field.
Leo shows his romantic side to Antonella
Messi has proven that even at the age of 38, he can still excel in the world of football. But he also knows how to continue winning his wife’s heart as the years pass.
The Inter Miami captain took advantage of his recovery time after suffering a muscle strain in his left hamstring to celebrate a day of love with his family.
It was his wife who shared on his official Instagram account some of the details and presents that Leo gave her on Valentine’s Day this year: a huge teddy bear, strawberries with chocolate and a bouquet of colorful flowers.
Additionally, Ant and her husband shared a romantic dinner and quality time, with Ant wearing a brown dress with Yves Saint Laurent shoes and a handbag, and Lionel wearing a black suit with a red and white vertical striped shirt.
After sharing these photos, fans immediately left warm messages for “10” and his wife. “Amazing love story”, “So cute”, “Couple of the century”, “Because of you I still believe in love” and “The perfect couple exists” were some of the comments from Ant and Leo’s followers.
The Argentine player has shown himself to be a reserved person who avoids media attention, but in an intimate interview with Argentine streaming channel LuzuTV, the Inter Miami captain revealed that he has a “romantic side”, although he is less expressive in words. He also explained that there are days when he goes several hours without seeing Antonella, and that he tries to leave small everyday gifts to let her know he is thinking of her. “I’m very thoughtful. I always leave her a little gift, a little something,” he confesses with a nervous laugh, admitting that it’s difficult to leave her a handwritten note.
Leo and Ant have known each other since childhood. Lucas Scaglia, one of Newell’s number 10 teammates on the youth team, is also Antonella’s cousin, so their bond started when they were still children.
They became estranged when Leo began his football career, but remained in touch via email and later formalized their relationship. Their first child, Thiago, was born in November 2012, followed by Mateo in September 2015. Ant and Leo then decided to get married on June 30, 2017, and the couple welcomed their third child, Ciro, almost a year later in March 2028.
Meanwhile, Leo and Inter Miami will open the new MLS season on February 21st, playing as the visitors against Los Angeles FC at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Then, on February 26, they will play a friendly against Independiente del Valle, which was postponed due to Messi’s injury.
