Buanga & Son’s second year is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated storylines in Major League Soccer, as LAFC looks to transform the 2025 season and build on a partnership that reset expectations across the league.
After Son joined the club, he and Buanga combined for 25 goals and eight assists in the league and postseason. LAFC finished the year with a 9-2-4 record during that span, rapidly climbing the standings and becoming one of the most feared teams in the league.
As LAFC enters a new season, there are even more expectations for the sequel. Opponents know what Buanga and Son can do together, but stopping them is another matter entirely. After a full offseason of preparation and a year of shared experience already, Buanga & Son: Year 2 has all the makings of another blockbuster for LAFC and MLS as a whole.
Adding new pieces to the stacked offense
LAFC announced on Saturday that they have added a new youngster to their midfield, signing Swedish midfielder Amin Boudri from Allsvenskan side GAIS. Boudri, 21, joins the Black & Gold on a contract until June 2029 with a club option in June 2030.
He will earn a roster spot in the U22 Initiative, reinforcing LAFC’s continued focus on bringing in promising young talent with international experience. The Swedish youth international joined MLS after scoring eight goals and providing two assists in 53 appearances in all competitions for GAIS.
He also spent time in Italy early in his career, making one appearance for Venice FC after developing through the club’s academy system. At international level, Budori played for Sweden’s Under-21 team, earning eight caps and scoring one goal. His performances in Sweden helped establish him as one of the most promising young midfielders in the region.
