Spanish journalist and content creator Javi Hoyos shared an anecdote on Vanitatis’ Zodiac podcast that highlights the pressures that news organizations can be under in football circles and celebrities around the world. He said one player offered to pay him an unlimited amount of money not to release the information he had.
Hoyos, who also works as the host of TVE’s “D Corazon” and is one of the most visible voices on social networks regarding current affairs and celebrity news, spoke about the episode without a filter and described it as “surreal”. According to the reporter himself who appeared on the show, the offer was not a specific number, but rather a tacit offer: “Tell me how much you want” in the form of an unopened check.

This confession was controversial. That’s because it is unusual for someone like him to expose attempts to influence or buy silence before detailing what information is at stake. This account goes beyond the typical battle for exclusive coverage and headlines and points directly to the power relations surrounding elite athletes and their media environments.
So far, there has been no further public confirmation of who the footballers involved were or what information was sought to be blocked. Hoyos himself did not reveal his name in the statement.
How much does Javi Hoyos earn from social media?
In the same podcast, Hoyos also opened up about his professional finances. The journalist admitted that the highest amount he charged for a one-off campaign on social networks was 12,000 euros for a video that included participation in a photocall for an interview.
Regarding his work as co-host of TVE’s “D. Corazon” with Ang Igaltibul, Hoyos was indifferent about the channel’s salary being published on the transparency portal. He said his income shouldn’t surprise anyone, which sums up his position on the public’s perception of how much TV professionals make.
