Robinho, who played for Real Madrid from 2005 to 2008, was convicted in Italy of gang rape in the Alpine country in 2013 and will be sentenced to nine years in prison in 2022.
The 41-year-old former soccer player received the good news that a Sao Paulo court has accepted his request for a 160-day reduction in his sentence.

Robinho will complete his sentence in March 2033, and if his sentence is commuted, he could be released at the end of 2032.
Thanks to his work and studies in prison, Robinho managed to reduce his sentence by 160 days.
Robinho is currently being held at the Limeira Rehabilitation Center in the interior of São Paulo, Brazil.
Robinho’s sentence reduction was not due to special favors, but to legal recognition of 160 days of remission earned through research and work undertaken during his sentence.
Globo Sporte reported that Robinho’s lawyer requested an update on the sentence reduction on January 7.
The former soccer player had been incarcerated in a so-called “celebrity prison” since March 2024, but his sentence was commuted thanks to his work and studies in prison.
“Robinho’s sentence reduction is not due to any special favors, but to the legal recognition of the 160 days of remission obtained through research and work carried out during his sentence in accordance with the Penal Code,” lawyer Mario Rossi told G1.
The Limeira Socialization Center, the prison to which Robinho was transferred on November 17, houses people with no criminal records, sentences of less than 10 years, and no ties to criminal organizations.
