Manager Phil Parkinson confirmed Mullin’s loan spell with Wigan has officially come to an end and the attacker will return to training with Wrexham this week. The coach had made it clear that the players needed to get back into shape after a few days off work.
At 31 years old, Marin returns to the club where he wrote the most successful pages of his career. Despite scoring five goals in 26 games during his time at Wigan, the striker was left out of the last few squads, accelerating his departure from League One teams before finally returning to his beloved club.
Paul Mullin is a professional footballer from England who plays as a striker for Wrexham AFC in League Two of the EFL.
Since joining in 2021, the striker has been a key figure in the club’s third successive promotion, with 110 goals in 170 games, making him the club’s seventh all-time top scorer.
Its impact went beyond the sport, thanks to the documentary series Welcome to Wrexham, which showed the world the transformation of the club following the arrival of owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny. Marin became one of the most recognizable faces on the project, including a cameo appearance in Deadpool and Wolverine.
Marin contributed to the National League championship with 38 goals, and also had an outstanding performance in League 2 with 24 goals. But last season was more complicated. Injuries and high competitiveness limited his appearances, with just five goals in 32 games, playing a secondary role in promotion to the Championship.
He is under contract at Wrexham until 2027, but has dealt with recurring physical problems with his back, knees and hamstrings in recent years, which have limited his performances in recent games.
But beyond his fitness, Marin provides leadership and a unique connection with fans and the team that he fully knows can be decisive during key moments of the season.
How are Wrexham in the Championship?
Wrexham are just one point away from making the play-offs and the return of idol Paul Mullin could be the deciding factor in Ryan Reynolds’ side achieving this goal.
