TPreparations are underway for the historic Spanish Super Cup in 2026. After Barcelona’s victory in 2025, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) decided to significantly increase the prize money, with the aim of increasing the relevance of the tournament and motivating the participating teams.

The global amount will now be distributed between Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Athletic Club, increasing from the 19,648,486 euros distributed to Barcelona, Real Madrid, Athletic Club and Mallorca in 2025 to around 23 million euros. The distribution is not linear. The amount varies depending on each team’s history and recent achievements, as each club receives a share depending on the titles won, history and TV audience.

The previous edition was somewhat controversial, with Real Madrid and Barcelona receiving 6 million euros each, Athletic Club 2 million euros and Mallorca 850,000 euros. In addition, the semifinalists received $1 million, and the champion received an additional $2 million. The Athletic even called for a more equal distribution among participants.

In general, the Super Cup represents a total revenue of 51.9 million euros for RFEF, coming from three main sources: sponsorship: 27 million euros, organization and participation: 11.5 million euros, and television rights: 12.69 million euros.

In addition, approximately €28 million will be donated to non-professional football, strengthening the tournament’s economic impact beyond the participating clubs and demonstrating how the Super Cup benefits the overall fabric of Spanish football.
