BLionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have won millions of fans thanks to their goals and feats with the ball.
However, they are now aiming to drive those followers to Instagram and become the first users to surpass the famous social network’s own account.

They have each been compared and pitted against each other on the field ever since they started their soccer careers and showed incredible talent. But now both are aiming for the same record outside the world of soccer.
The truth is that the Portuguese and Argentina national team captains have some milestones to celebrate. The exception is the Instagram account with the most followers.
Although they started the year as two of the most followed people on the platform, they have been surpassed by the app’s own account, @instagram, which has 697 million followers. The Portuguese player (@cristiano) is next with 668 million fans, followed by the Inter Miami captain (@leomessi) with 510 million fans.
However, this record is determined not by what the two soccer stars do or don’t do, but by the users themselves. That being said, CR7 and Leo could set other records this year depending on their performance on the pitch.
CR7 is close to becoming the first soccer player to reach 1,000 official goals (956 goals). Furthermore, if the Argentine is allowed to participate in the tournament, he could join Leo as the only two players to qualify for six World Cups.
Furthermore, if Messi joins, he will lead the Argentina national team as they aim to defend the title they won at the last World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
The Argentine number 10 is his top assist provider and the player with the most titles (48). He is now chasing his dream of becoming a two-time world champion.
