CR7 tests aim against special robots
Throughout his career, Cristiano has faced many challenges both on and off the field. Recently he faced one of his most difficult trials. It was a goalkeeper controlled by a system of cameras and sensors that made it nearly impossible to beat.
The author of this super goalkeeper is YouTuber Mark Rober, a former NASA and Apple engineer, who decided to travel to Portugal and test it against Al Nasr’s captain in front of the rest of the Portuguese national team.
CR7 is 46 goals away from reaching his 1,000th professional career goal (954 goals), but this was definitely his most difficult goal as the robot senses player movements and acts accordingly. But it wasn’t impossible. After several attempts he succeeded.
Taking advantage of a mechanical failure in the left-hand corner, Cristiano detected an area above the center near the post where the sensor could not reach, and kicked the ball, which ended up going into the net.
Team-mates rushed to the 40-year-old captain to celebrate the goal, but the captain laughed at the feat, while Rober, clearly in defeat, bemused at the Portuguese’s talent.
The video quickly went viral, demonstrating the CR7’s ability to overcome even the most unusual challenges. It already has over 19.5 million views on YouTube.
Meanwhile, Al Nasr are scheduled to win 4-0 against FC Istiklol Dushanbe in the fifth leg of the AFC Cup group stage on Wednesday, November 26, but CR7 did not participate. The club’s next opponent will be against Al Najma SC on December 21st.
