Arsenal are currently in the best position to end their long wait for the Premier League title following the demolition of Tottenham, but there could still be some twists and turns ahead of the busy Christmas period

Arsenal are running as the favorites to win the Premier League this season. The Gunners extended their lead at the top of the table to six points after defeating north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium.

Ebelesi Eze’s hat-trick was joined by a goal from Leandro Trossard in an unforgettable afternoon for Mikel Arteta’s side. It was a productive weekend for Chelsea, who comfortably defeated newly promoted Burnley to secure second place in the table.

And while the two London rivals achieved impressive wins, the same could not be said for Manchester City, who faced a bit of an obstacle at the weekend. Josep Guardiola’s side lost 2-1 to Newcastle at St James’ Park.

They remain in third place but are seven points off the pace. But it’s still early days, and there are sure to be more twists and turns in the future.

Here’s how each of the Premier League’s top three teams will fare in the coming weeks.

Arsenal, who dismantled Spurs, will face another big test next weekend when they face second-placed Chelsea. If they win the game, titles could really start to cross Arsenal’s players’ minds.

Just three days later, Arsenal welcome Brentford to the Emirates Stadium. His next task is to travel to Villa Park to face Aston Villa and former manager Unai Emery.

Struggling Wolves will be Arsenal’s next opponents in mid-December ahead of their debut at the Hill Dickinson Stadium to take on Everton.

Chelsea (A) – Sunday 30th November

Brentford (H) – Wednesday 3rd December

Given Arsenal’s current form, Chelsea’s real statement will be to secure a win against Arsenal next weekend – and that will be on Blues manager Enzo Maresca’s mind. Chelsea will then turn their attention to their first match of December against Leeds at Elland Road.

This will be followed by away games, with Bournemouth hosting the Blues at home next weekend. Everton will travel to Stamford Bridge on December 13, just seven days before facing Arsenal, taking on a new role in a potential title race.

Newcastle, who beat Manchester City, will also be looking to have a say as they welcome Chelsea to St James’ Park just before Christmas.

Despite being on the back foot, Manchester City can certainly rack up a number of wins. And given the number of games scheduled for Christmas, there’s no way you’d bet on them doing that.

Struggling Leeds travel to the Etihad Stadium next weekend before traveling to Craven Cottage to face Fulham.

A trip to Manchester comes just days after the newly promoted Sunderland. London’s Crystal Palace and West Ham will round out City’s next five Premier League fixtures.
