Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over FC Barcelona in the latest “El Clasico” not only gave Los Blancos five points over their rivals at the top of LALIGA EA Sports, but also marked a record-breaking weekend for LALIGA in the United States.
The match was LALIGA’s most-watched El Clasico in the United States, with a total audience of 1.13 million viewers (English only), a 2% increase from the all-time high of 1.11 million the last time the clubs met in May, according to Nielsen Big Data+ Panel.

In addition to watching El Clasico from home, spectators also flocked to LALIGA-sponsored viewing parties and events in Dallas and Houston.
With support from ESPN and the activation of regional corporate partners, LALIGA had its largest and most successful weekend in the United States, welcoming more than 4,500 enthusiastic fans.
“Last weekend’s success was a result not only of the exciting games on the field at the Santiago Bernabéu, but also of LALIGA’s long-term commitment to supporting our corporate and broadcast partners across North America in bringing LALIGA and the excitement of El Clasico closer to U.S. fans than ever before,” said Nicolas García Hemme, LALIGA North America Managing Director.
The El Clasico Fan Experience Presented by Walmart and LALIGA drew more than 3,100 fans to a sold-out Houston Stampede, setting a new attendance record for a LALIGA event in the United States.
Not only was this the first event in a multi-year regional partnership with Walmart announced in September, but ESPN’s Sebastian Salazar and Jose del Valle hosted a live segment on-site that included interviews with Iker Casillas and Rivaldo.
Eslabon Armado, the first Mexican regional music group to enter Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, kept the party going with their performance after the final whistle.
Less than 300 miles north of Dallas, LALIGA hosted a sold-out crowd of 1,500 fans throughout the weekend with three days of activities including Friday’s “Pick Up Fútbol by Remitly,” an appearance by LALIGA legend Edmilson at a local Verizon store on Saturday, and Sunday’s “El Partidazo Presented by Lowe’s” watch party at Backyard Dallas.
LALIGA also supported a U.S. Soccer Foundation event that provided new sneakers to 200 youth players in the city over the weekend.
