Fermin López scored a hat-trick and Marcus Rashold scored twice as Barcelona defeated Olympiakos 6-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday.
When the Greek champions were reduced to 10 men in the second half following a controversial red card for Santiago Hetze, Barça made the most of their advantage and scored four goals to complete the rout.
Fermin’s first career hat-trick
It was Lopez’s first career hat-trick, with Lamine Yamal also scoring from the penalty spot.
Olympiakos had no reply when Hetze was shown a second yellow card in the 57th minute, although replays showed that Hetze did not appear to have made contact with Marc Casado, who tried to pull him back.
Just three minutes earlier, Ayub El Kaabi’s penalty almost put the visitors back at 2-1.
4 goals in 11 minutes
Two clinical finishes from López gave Barcelona a 2-0 lead at half-time. The Spanish champions, along with additional players, then overwhelmed Olympiakos by scoring four goals in 11 minutes, starting with Yamal’s spot-kick.
Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, has scored four goals in three Champions League games this season.
