Chloe Lacasse converted a penalty kick in stoppage time as the visiting Utah Royals defeated North Carolina Courage 4-1 on Saturday.
In the other National Women’s Soccer League matchup, the Boston Legacy defeated the Kansas City Current 1-0.
Nuria Labano added two assists for the Royals (9-4-3). In the 6th minute, Kate Del Faba scored a header from a corner kick by Labano for a 1-0 lead.
In the 34th minute, Ravano converted Tatun Milazzo’s volley for a 2-0 lead.
Plucky forward Evelyn Ige capitalized on a turnover to cut the lead to 2-1 in the 55th minute.
Minami Tanaka scored a header from Lacasse’s cross, returning the lead to two points in the 65th minute.
The four goals are Utah’s most on the road.
North Carolina State (6-6-3) has lost three straight games, going 9-1 in that span.
Boston gets excited with Traore’s goal
In the game in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Aissata Traore scored in the 18th minute and Legacy (5-8-4) recorded its third shutout of the season against shorthanded Kansas City.
Casey Murphy made four saves and kept his third clean sheet of the season.
Ella Stevens drew a red card in stoppage time for assaulting current defender Kayla Sharples.
Current (8-7-1) was without Temwa Chawinga, who was on international duty, and Michelle Cooper with a thigh injury.
All seven of Kansas City’s losses have come on the road, and the team remains winless without two-time MVP Chawinga (0-4-1).
