MIAMI (AP) — Preston Plambeck scored his first career MLS goal in the 87th minute, Luis Suarez scored twice and Inter Miami beat Chicago 3-2 on Wednesday night, spoiling Robert Lewandowski’s debut with the Fire.

Miami (10-2-4) has won five straight.

Suarez scored three goals in his last game for Miami before the World Cup suspension, giving him his first hat-trick in MLS since 2024. 6-4 Beat Philadelphia.

Suarez’s shot from the center of the area was saved by goalkeeper Chris Brady. Plambek hit the rebound..

The Fire led 1-0. Goalkeeper Rocco Rios Novo’s own goal At 18 minutes. Miami defender Ian Frey sent a slow-rolling ball to Rios Novo, but the ball slipped past the goalie’s legs as he fumbled the first-touch pass.

In the 27th minute, Suarez converted from the spot to make it 1-1.

Puso Ditejane came on as a substitute for Filip Zinkernagel in the 62nd minute and scored his first MLS career goal with a first-touch shot from just outside the penalty area, leveling the score at 2-2 in the 67th minute.

Lewandowski, 37, signed with the Fire on June 29, but his first MLS appearance was delayed. The Fire’s game against Vancouver, originally scheduled for Thursday, was postponed to Oct. 6 due to air pollution in the Chicago area.

Lewandowski, a seven-time Bundesliga Golden Boot winner, scored a league-record 41 goals for Bayern Munich in 2020/21.

Chicago (8 wins, 5 losses, 2 draws) ended its three-game winning streak.

Argentina internationals Lionel Messi and Rodrigo de Paul did not play in Miami as their side lost to Spain in the World Cup final on Sunday.

Hugo Kuipers, who leads MLS with 13 goals this season, is reportedly leaving the Fire and joining LIGA MX side CF Monterrey.
