Alejandro Garnacho was announced as Aston Villa’s new signing on Thursday, starting a new chapter in his professional career.
But on his way to Unai Emery’s side, the Argentina international made a gesture that caught the attention of Argentine fans.

In a presentation to fans via social media, Garnacho made a notable gesture. During the official photo session, he posed with the Argentine flag draped over his shoulders, reaffirming his identification with La Albiceleste.
The image was one of the most talked about of the day, reiterating the 22-year-old forward’s ties to the Argentina national team, which finished runners-up after losing 1-0 to Spain in the final, despite not being on coach Lionel Scaloni’s call-up list for the 2026 World Cup.
This is not the first time he has performed for the Albiceleste, as he made a similar gesture when he won the FA Cup with Manchester United.
However, Garnacho went beyond his support for the Argentina national team and expressed his enthusiasm for joining manager Unai Emery’s side, who had shown interest in signing him since the last transfer window.
“I spoke with Unai before I came here. He gave me confidence. I’m really happy and can’t wait to meet the fans,” the footballer said in his first statement as a Villans player.
Meanwhile, he is preparing for a new chapter at Aston Villa after making 43 appearances in all competitions for the Blues, scoring eight goals and providing four assists. There, he will share a team with fellow Argentines Emiliano ‘Dib’ Martinez and Emiliano Buendia, as they aim to become a dominant force in both the Premier League and European competition.
