EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Even the field of world cup Finals are on sale now.
FIFAThe turf used for the July 19 final at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, which was accused of charging exorbitant fees for this year’s tournament in the United States, $450 per piece.
According to the FIFA store, each patch of grass measures 17.5 x 17.5 x 17.5, but it does not specify whether the measurements are in inches, centimeters, or millimeters. Soccer’s governing body did not immediately respond to an email requesting details on the measurements.
“Get a piece of authentic soccer history by permanently preserving a piece of the authentic 2026 FIFA World Cup pitch in premium acrylic with USB memorabilia,” the website says. “Each piece contains an original fragment of the iconic Finals playing surface, making it a unique collectible celebrating one of the world’s biggest sporting events.”
FIFA says: “The acrylic USB features an authenticity film and offers a sleek, contemporary display piece. Presented in a premium hinged shoulder box with impressive spot UV detailing, this special item is designed for collectors, fans and football enthusiasts alike.”
FIFA only allows sending turf to addresses in the United States and Europe.
“Orders will not be shipped until after the 2026 FIFA World Cup Finals,” the governing body said.
Players and coaches have criticized the quality of MetLife’s field, which typically uses artificial turf for NFL games between the New York Giants and Jets.
FIFA is selling regular tickets for the final for up to $32,970 The finals are asking for $34,500 and $32,500 in hospitality tickets, including food and drinks.
