Balogun leads the U.S. with three goals, tying Landon Donovan in 2010 for the second-highest total by an American player at a World Cup, and behind Bert Patenaud’s four goals in the inaugural tournament in 1930.
FIFA’s decision to overturn the red card after receiving a phone call from President Donald Trump “stunned” the Belgian Football Association and provided a huge boost to history-seeking Americans.

Cristiano Ronaldo reiterates that this World Cup will be his last
Ronaldo said again: This will be the case his last world cup.
To continue their final run, the 41-year-old star and his Portuguese team-mates will have to overcome the might of Spain.
The last two meetings in a rivalry that dates back 105 years were certainly memorable.
Almost a year ago, Portugal defeated Spain on penalties in the UEFA Nations League final. Ronaldo scored his only hat-trick at the World Cup eight years ago in the opening group stage game against Spain in Russia, but the match ended in a 3-3 draw and both teams unexpectedly missed out on a place in the knockout stages.
Portugal are aiming to reach the quarter-finals for the second year in a row, having only surpassed that once since becoming World Cup regulars in 2002. Portugal reached the semi-finals in 2006.
“Regardless of what happens tomorrow, Cristiano is going to leave with a clear conscience, not 100 percent but 1000 percent,” Ronaldo said in translated comments. “I gave everything to football. I didn’t do it out of necessity. It’s out of passion that I play for this national team because I love playing football.”
If Ronaldo or one of his teammates scores, it will be the first goal Spain has conceded in this World Cup. La Roja, who had not reached the quarter-finals since winning South Africa’s only title in 2010, defeated South Korea, Uruguay and Austria by a combined score of 8-0.
Spain opened the tournament with a goalless draw against Cape Verde and advanced to the knockout stages, captivating the tournament before taking defending champions Argentina to extra time and losing 3-2.
“Every game is a final and we know it will be difficult,” Spain midfielder Rodri said through an interpreter. “We will take it one match at a time. We are not thinking beyond that. We have a very formidable rival. If we can beat Portugal, we will be one step closer.”
Belgium feels comfortable in Seattle
The Belgians won’t have as much support as the Americans on Monday, but they will feel comfortable in what has become their second home.
Belgium has been in Seattle since June 13, using the Seattle Sounders’ facility as a World Cup training venue. The Belgians played two games at Lumen Field, 1-1 draw against Egypt in the group stage and Won against Senegal 3-2 With a goal in extra time in the round of 32.
Belgian midfielder Dodi Lukebakio said: “I think after the Senegal game, it was a unique game and it gave us a special feeling, so now we feel like a special boost.” “And I think after a game like this, (we) can have more confidence.”
