ISTANBUL (AP) — Dutch defender Nathan Ake left Manchester City on Friday to join Fenerbahce, as the Istanbul club seeks its first Turkish league title in 13 seasons.
Fenerbahce announces contract The club’s social media accounts did not reveal the transfer fee or details of the 31-year-old Ake’s contract.
According to the club, Ake will take part in training after his post-World Cup break. He will be reunited with former Man City goalkeeper Ederson, who is playing for Brazil at the World Cup.
Ake played in three of the Netherlands’ four games at the World Cup, including a starting role. Lost to Morocco in round of 32 on monday.
Fenerbahce will begin their Champions League qualifying campaign on July 21 or 22, hosting Grnik Zabrze in the first leg of the second qualifying round, with their return match to be played a week later in Poland.
Ake spent six seasons at Man City under manager Josep Guardiola, winning the Champions League in 2023 and winning the Premier League four times.
