TORONTO (AP) – Senegal’s hopes of advancing to the knockout stages were high on Friday with a goal-scoring 5-0 win against Iraq in a 10-a-side game. world cup knockout stage.

The Senegalese, looking to advance from third place in Group I, took advantage of Iraqi defender Levin Suraka’s red card for denying Sadio Mane’s solitary goal in the first half, with Pape Gueye scoring two goals in the second half.

Habib Diarra scored in the 4th minute and Slaka was sent off in the 13th minute, but Senegal were unable to find the back of the net again until Ismaila Sarr’s goal in the 56th minute.

Gueye then added a brace, with fellow substitute Iliman Ndiay scoring Senegal’s fifth goal.

Senegal had three points and a goal difference of plus two.

The top eight teams in third place advance to the Round of 32, with ties determined by points and goal difference if necessary.

Iraq was eliminated with no points in their first World Cup appearance since 1986.
