MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) – Grammy Award winner Dua Lipa was a special guest at Portuguese national team coach Roberto Martinez’s press conference Friday.
It’s her sound anyway.
Speakers inside the stadium’s interview room began playing Lipa’s song for several minutes in the middle of Martinez’s availability session. The reason was not entirely clear, but apparently the wires got mixed up during rehearsals that were taking place inside the stadium, but no one seemed to care that it happened.
Martinez even swayed a little in his chair while workers tried to figure out how to turn off the music.
“I believe Dua Lipa supports Portugal,” he said.
Ripa, a three-time Grammy Award winner and London-born British-Albanian singing powerhouse, is a huge soccer fan and has attended countless major events in recent years. And when Martinez was asked about the balance of play in the midfield so far this tournament in a subsequent press conference, he couldn’t help but return to the music.
“Balance and Dua Lipa, those were the two main topics,” Martinez said.
