WREXHAM, Wales (AP) — Latest updates on Wrexham. Aiming to enter the lucrative Premier League The Championship starts with a Welsh derby against Cardiff.
The match will be played at Cardiff City Stadium on August 17th and will conclude the first round of matches in the English second division.
The Championship announced the season schedule on Thursday, with matches set to start a week before the start of the Premier League.
Wrexham finished in 7th place After an unprecedented third straight promotion under Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mack, they entered their first season in the second tier since the 1980s – one place outside of the play-off spots. This is the highest ranking in Wrexham’s 162-year history.
This will be the first league match between Wrexham in north Wales and Cardiff in south Wales since 2002. Cardiff were promoted at the end of last season.
Wrexham then play two home games against Watford and Birmingham.
Wrexham’s pre-season opponents include Manchester United and Liverpool before the Championship campaign begins.
