Manchester United boss furious at Barça’s attitude in Rashford transfer negotiations
“Time is running out for Rashford to realize his dream of signing a permanent contract with Barcelona,” reports Chris Wheeler, reminding Barça that they have the option to sign Marcus Rashford for just over €30 million.
Manchester United are adamantly refusing to lower the amount, but the Daily Mail reports that Barça are only willing to pay half.
Manchester United are fed up with Barcelona’s attitude in Rashford negotiations
FC Barcelona’s reluctance to pay Rashford the agreed amount to sign him permanently has created problems for Manchester United, who want to pursue other deals.
United fear Rashford’s future will not be decided until after the World Cup, which could seriously disrupt the Red Devils’ transfer business this summer and Michael Carrick’s plans for next season.
“Manchester United bosses are furious at Barça’s attitude in Rashford transfer negotiations,” Jeremy Cross writes in the Mirror.
A British newspaper claims that the situation has reached such a point that Manchester United are considering abandoning talks with Barcelona and selling Rashford to another team. However, the problem is that the transfer fee agreed with Barça is the same as what other clubs would pay.
Meanwhile, Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the billionaire, continues to call for Rashford and his high salary to be axed to ease the Old Trafford club’s wage burden.
The other teams Rashford could sign for are in the Premier League.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham and Aston Villa could be interested in adding Marcus Rashford, who has scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists in 49 games for Barcelona this season, to strengthen their attack, but Manchester United also have no desire to strengthen their direct rivals in the Premier League.
The signing of Anthony Gordon, for whom Barcelona paid Newcastle $70 million, further complicates Rashford’s continued stay at Can Barça.
