Barcelona will not exercise their €30 million buyout option for English footballer Marcus Rashford. The deadline for exercising this right expires next Monday, but the forward has already realized that the Blaugrana club will not pay him that amount and that for the time being he is again a Manchester United player in every respect.
The news prompted the footballer to delete all traces of the Blaugrana club from his social media. Both on X and Instagram he no longer indicates that he belongs to Barcelona. He only states that he is an international athlete with the England national team. In fact, he is currently training with the British team for the World Cup.

The Blaugrana club are refusing to sign the player at that price and, in fact, refuse to sign him for next season. It is certainly possible that the terms of the contract could be renegotiated and United could accept a new loan (although this seems highly unlikely), but that would likely result in Barcelona reconsidering the deal. But the fact that Gordon is already under contract is quite a statement of intent.
Barcelona are currently busy recruiting a centre-forward. The main target is Julián Álvarez, but his position with Atlético is far apart. The Blaugrana club does not intend to make any other moves in attack until this situation is resolved.
