Trent Alexander-Arnold’s first season at Real Madrid was far from easy, marked by adaptation problems, injuries and the instability that plagued Los Blancos during a campaign that ended without a silver medal.
His underwhelming performance combined with other factors led to Trent being excluded from the World Cup at the discretion of manager Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel also took a hard line against other England stars such as Cole Palmer and Phil Foden. Next season is shaping up to be a big one for the former Liverpool man, who already knows he will face competition from Denzel Dumfries at right-back under the watchful eye of a demanding manager like Mourinho.
Some in England believe the best option for the player is a return to the Premier League, and have urged Arsenal in particular to explore a deal with Madrid, who would also need to sell the player to finance the reinforcements planned to rebuild the squad.
Former Manchester United, Tottenham and England striker Teddy Sheringham believes the Gunners could be an ideal transfer destination. “If you put Trent in a well-organized back four that works as a unit, that’s what you’re playing in a team like Arsenal,” he told Boyle Sports.
“I’m sure that if someone works with Trent in that sense and coaches him in his positioning in important moments, he can improve in that role and give Arsenal that extra dimension that he brings to the team,” he added.
Trent Alexander-Arnold joined Real Madrid after expiring his contract with Arsenal. According to the specialist website Transfermarkt, his current market value is estimated at around 60 million euros.
