Posh ready for Austria
Austrian defender Stefan Posch will be available to play against Argentina after breaking his jaw domestically World Cup opening match.
Coach Ralph Rangnick said Sunday that Posh, who trained fully the day before the game, had to travel to Los Angeles twice to be fitted with protective equipment so he could play despite the injury.
“He’s ready to play tomorrow like any other player,” Rangnick said through an interpreter. “Then we’ll see if he starts tomorrow or if he’s put in during the game.”
Posch suffered a jaw injury in a collision with Jordan during Austria’s 3-1 win in the Group J opener in Santa Clara, California, on Tuesday. There were initially concerns that the 29-year-old Mainz defender would miss the remainder of the World Cup.
Senegal coach considers changes ahead of match against Norway
Senegal coach Pape Thiau has remained silent on any possible changes for the match against Norway.
“Are we going to change things up a little bit? Well, we’ll see,” Thiau said through an interpreter at a news conference on Sunday.
