MADRID (AP) – A Spanish court has sentenced Spanish forward Rafa Mir to 8 1/2 years in prison for sexually assaulting two women along with another soccer player.
A lower court in the Valencia region ruled on Monday that Mir and another player sexually assaulted two women at Mir’s home in the city of Valencia in 2024, when Mir was playing for the soccer club of the same name.
The court sentenced Mill to seven years in prison for sexual assault and an additional 18 months for causing bodily harm.
Mir, 28, played for Elche in La Liga last season on loan from Sevilla. His contract with Elche expires at the end of this month.
The second player, identified in court documents as Pablo JG, is a player in Spain’s lower leagues. The court sentenced him to two and a half years in prison for sexual assault and bodily harm.
Mr Mill denied any wrongdoing and said the two women consented to a sexual relationship.
The judgment can be appealed.
