Arsenal crowned Premier League champions: 22-year wait ends

Arsenal have once again reached the pinnacle of English football. Mikel Arteta’s side were crowned Premier League champions following a 1-1 draw between Manchester City and Bournemouth.

The surprise setback left Josep Guardiola’s side with 78 points against a competitive Bournemouth, but Arsenal clinched the title with 82 points and became the Gunners’ crown for the first time since the historic 2003-04 season.

Arsenal win the Premier League for the first time in 22 years

Eli Junior Crupi’s goal in the 38th minute put Guardiola and City in the dark before half-time and for most of the second half. Erling Haaland’s goal in the 94th minute sealed the draw and Arsenal won the title.

The last time the London club lifted a trophy was in the historic 2003-04 season, when Arsene Wenger’s side were immortalized as the ‘Invincibles’.

Since then, Arsenal have gone through years of rebuilding and setbacks, and several seasons in which they came very close to the title. This time the result was different.

Arteta was able to take advantage of the stumbling blocks of Manchester City, who fought until the end and dominated English football, and succeeded in building a competitive and mentally strong team. Featuring players such as Declan Rice, David Raya, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz, Arsenal won the league for the 14th time in their history.

The result not only ended a 22-year drought in domestic football, but also spared them any pressure in Sunday’s final Premier League game against Crystal Palace.

Winning this title begs the question: Can they also win the Champions League? The final will be held on May 30th at Budapest’s Puskas Arena against PSG, who are aiming for their second consecutive title. I don’t know everything yet.
