Liverpool great Kenny Dalglish has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment.
Dalglish, 75, revealed the news as follows: Post to Instagram And on Tuesday, he said, “Treatment is progressing well.”
“As always, I would like to thank the wonderful medical staff who have shown incredible care and thoughtfulness, not only to me but to so many others,” Dalglish wrote. “They are a credit to themselves.”
Dalglish, widely regarded as Liverpool’s best-ever player and who coached the team for two years, said he did not want to make his diagnosis public but inadvertently shared the news on social media. It wasn’t immediately clear where he did it.
“Ideally, this would have remained private, because that’s the way it should be,” he wrote. “But my useless technology skills forced me to dabble.
In a statement, Liverpool said: “We wish everyone at Liverpool FC their support, best wishes and love and are and will continue to be with Sir Kenny and his family.”

The former Scotland international forward, affectionately known as ‘King Kenny’ by Liverpool supporters, won five league titles and three European Cups with Liverpool between 1977 and 1985.
Dalglish then became player-manager, leading Liverpool to their first league and FA Cup double win in his first season in both roles, followed by two further league titles in 1988 and 1990.
He continued to play until 1990, scoring 118 goals in over 350 games for the club, retiring at the age of 39.
Dalglish suddenly resigned as Liverpool manager midway through the 1990-91 season. Tragedy at Hillsborough Stadium in 1989 — Britain’s worst sporting disaster — caused the deaths of 97 Liverpool fans.
He then led Blackburn to the Premier League title in 1995. Dalglish is one of only four managers to win the English top flight with two different clubs, and the only manager to win the title before or after the Premier League was launched in 1992.
Dalglish also coached Newcastle and Celtic before taking charge of Liverpool for the second time in 2011-2012.
At international level, Dalglish scored 30 goals in 102 games for Scotland between 1971 and 1986, putting him joint with the late Dennis Law as Scotland’s all-time top scorer.

Dalglish’s news comes just days after fellow Liverpool great Kevin Keegan, also 75. revealed He has stage 4 cancer.
Mr Keegan’s family said: In January he was diagnosed with cancer.
As a forward for Liverpool in the 1970s, Keegan won the league three times, the UEFA Cup twice, the 1977 European Cup and the FA Cup.
He also served as captain and coach of the England national team.
