CHICAGO (AP) — Robin Rodd and Andrew Gutman each scored a goal and Chicago defeated Toronto FC 2-1 on Saturday night, helping the Fire win its third straight.
Toronto (3-6-5) has lost three straight and is winless for eight consecutive years. 3-2 A win against Colorado on April 4 ended a four-game undefeated streak.
Chris Brady made three saves for the Fires (8 wins, 4 losses, 2 draws).
The Fire are 14-14-14 against Toronto.
Rod scored the first goal in the 22nd minute. On the counter-attack, Hugo Kuipers made a centering pass from the left to Maren Haile-Selassie, who with his first touch passed the ball to the onrushing Rod, who won a one-on-one with goalkeeper Luka Gavran, giving the Fire a 1-0 lead.
Gutman headed a corner kick played by Filip Zinkernagel to give the Fire a 2-1 lead in the 65th minute.
Josh Sargent returned from a three-game absence (thigh) and scored in the 34th minute to make it 1-1. During a counter-attack, Alonso Coelo played a through ball to the onrushing Sargent, who scored with his first touch, but it slipped under the crossbar.
Kuipers, who has an MLS-leading 13 goals this season, ended his 10-game goal streak, the third-longest in league history.
