PARIS (AP) — PSG striker Ousmane Dembele The club announced on Monday that he would undergo treatment for several days ahead of the Champions League final due to discomfort in his right calf muscle.

The French forward was sent off from the field in the 27th minute of PSG’s 2-1 loss to Paris FC on Sunday. Last day of the French league. PSG coach Luis Enrique said after the match that he thought Dembele’s substitution was due to fatigue.

PSG said in a statement on Monday that the player had been “sent off as a precautionary measure”.

Title holders PSG will face Arsenal in the Champions League final on May 30th at Budapest’s Puskas Arena.

Last season, Dembélé helped PSG win the league title with 21 goals and was also awarded the Ballon d’Or, but he did not have much of an impact this time around, mainly due to the following reasons: persistent injury in first half of the season. However, manager Luis Enrique used him more sparingly in Ligue 1, and he played in 22 league games overall, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists.

His performance was even more impactful in the Champions League. PSG defeated Bayern Munich in the semi-finals and aims to win their second straight title. Dembele’s early goal PSG drew 1-1 in the return leg and won 6-5 on aggregate.
