TORONTO (AP) — One of the most culturally diverse cities in the world, Toronto will host six. world cup matchincluding the first-ever such match played in Canada on June 12th.

The host nation will face Bosnia and Herzegovina in their opening match. Ghana will play Panama on June 17th, Germany will play Ivory Coast on June 20th, Croatia will play Panama on June 23rd and Senegal will face Iraq on June 26th. Toronto will also host a Round of 32 game on July 2nd.

Landmarks/Attractions

Canada’s largest city welcomes the world and emphasizes its diversity, in contrast to the United States, where border control concerns can keep international fans away. Toronto advertises itself as a “world within a city.”

“More than half of our residents were born outside of Canada,” said Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow. “More than 200 languages are spoken in our neighborhood. Yes, the world is coming to Toronto this summer. But for us, the world has always been here.”

Toronto is a place with unique cultural regions. Some of the most popular attractions include the CN Tower, the redeveloped Harbourfront, and the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Meal scene

Toronto has it all. Crowded sports bars include Real Sports with its 39-foot HD large screen. And in a tournament with 48 teams, it’s not hard to find food from most countries. Michelin-certified restaurants like Alo, Toronto’s big names like Sotto Sotto, and St. Lawrence Market, ranked as one of the world’s best food markets, are just a few.

fan zone

Toronto has canceled plans to charge general admission to the FIFA Fan Festival after backlash. Games will be broadcast on screens, there will be live music, and more than 30 stalls will offer flavors from around the world. The zone is located on the grounds of Fort York National Historic Site, below the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto, and just 1.6 miles from Toronto Stadium.

Transportation options

Toronto encourages the use of public transportation, with the Toronto Transit Commission offering expanded service with trains, buses, and streetcars, and regular GO Transit service offering more trains. The city has significantly restricted traffic around the downtown core, where the stadium is located. Nearby residential areas such as Toronto Stadium and Liberty Village do not have public parking.

stadium tips

Toronto Stadium is the smallest venue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This stadium is home to Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC and the Canadian Football League’s Toronto Argonauts. The facility underwent a more than $100 million renovation that added approximately 17,000 temporary seats. This will bring the capacity to 45,000, the lowest in FIFA.
