BARCELONA, Spain (AP) – Barcelona coach Hansi Flick was in the dugout during Sunday’s Clasico against Real Madrid following the death of his father.
Barcelona will host Madrid at the Camp Nou with a chance to make it two wins in a row Spanish league championship By avoiding defeat against their fiercest rivals.
Flick’s father’s death was announced just hours before kick-off.
“FC Barcelona and the entire Blaugrana family would like to send our deepest love to Hansi Flick following the passing of his father.” Barcelona said in a statement:. “We share your grief and our thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.”
Barcelona and Real Madrid players wore black armbands and a moment of silence was observed before kick-off.
Barcelona heads into the final Clasico of the season with an 11-point lead over Madrid with four matches remaining in La Liga.
