MILAN (AP) — AC Milan is in danger of losing their Champions League spot to city rivals Inter Milan. Serie A title
Massimiliano Allegri’s side were reduced to 10 men and lost 2-0 to Sassuolo on Sunday, their fourth defeat in seven games.
Third-placed Milan were just three points behind fourth-placed Juventus, who later hosted Hellas Verona. They are five points behind fifth-placed Como, who are looking to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League.
There are three rounds left in the Italian league.
Domenico Berardi scored early for Sassuolo with his 12th career goal against Milan, Fikayo Tomori was sent off and Arman L’Oriente doubled their advantage after the break.
Milan have scored just one goal in their last five games.
Inter, who are 12 points behind Milan, can clinch the title with a draw against visiting Parma.
Prior to this, Bologna were drawn 0-0 by Cagliari in a regional derby.
