FIFA is paying more than $100 million in additional cash world cup Help your team cover higher-than-expected costs associated with their stay in North America.

FIFA’s Adjudication Council agreed on Tuesday to increase the base payout to each federation by $2 million, bringing it to a minimum of $12.5 million. The governing body expects to generate at least $11 billion in revenue from the tournament, which begins June 11 in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Some of the 48 confederations, particularly those in Europe, told FIFA that the prize structure and preparation costs set in place last year meant they would suffer losses in the tournament unless their teams progressed to the knockout rounds.

Teams that play in the United States also face some tax obligations that are exempt in Canada and Mexico.

The FIFA Executive Board agreed at a meeting in World Cup host city Vancouver that financial support for pre-tournament training and expenses will increase from $1.5 million to $2.5 million, and each federation’s base prize money will increase by $1 million to $10 million.

total Total prize money: $655 million The plan, announced in December, would see the eventual champion receive $50 million.

The Argentine federation received a prize of $42 million for winning the 2022 Qatar tournament. The total prize pool for this 32-team version was $440 million.

Hotel and transportation costs

FIFA also announced it would allocate an additional $16 million in “subsidies for team delegation expenses” and give federations more tickets to matches.

Under World Cup regulations, FIFA already requires each federation to pay for round-trip business-class travel to the tournament, as well as meals and lodging for the 50-member delegation. Hotel payments begin five days before the team’s first game and one night after elimination.

FIFA will also cover domestic travel costs for up to 50 delegation members and the cost of “dedicated vehicles, including equipment trucks.”

The World Cup team’s soccer federation must pay for “adequate insurance, including, but not limited to, injury, accident, illness and travel” as well as “incidental hotel costs” and accommodation for additional delegation members.
