BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AP) – Francesco Calzona resigned as coach of the Slovakia national team on Monday after refusing to agree to a contract extension.
Calzona’s contract expires on March 31, and the Slovak Football Association has offered him a two-year extension.
“(However) there was no agreement on the period of cooperation,” the association said. “After a mutual public discussion, it has been agreed that Francesco Calzona will not continue with the national team.”
