Germany forward Serge Gnabry says his “World Cup dream” is over

MUNICH (AP) – Germany forward Serge Gnabry has pulled out of the World Cup after suffering a muscle tear in his right thigh during training with Bayern Munich.

Bayern announced on Saturday that Gnabry would be out for an “extended period” after tearing his adductor muscle. without revealing further details.

The player confirmed on Instagram on Wednesday that he will miss the World Cup, which will be held in Mexico, Canada and the United States in June.

“The last few days have been tough to process. There is still a lot to play for in Bayern’s season after winning the Bundesliga title again at the weekend,” Gnabry wrote. “As for the dream of a World Cup with Germany, unfortunately it’s over for me.

“Like everyone in the rest of the country, I will be rooting for my players from home. It’s now time to focus on my recovery and return for pre-season. Thank you for all your messages.”

Gnabry contributed eight goals for Bayern and scored a further seven goals. broke the Bundesliga scoring record in front decided on the title last weekend.
