Sean Dyche has revealed that not only was he not approached by Tottenham to become their next manager, he would not have taken the job anyway. Spurs sit just one point above the relegation zone and are yet to win a game in the Premier League this year.
And Dysch was among the candidates to replace Igor Tudor, whose short and disastrous reign ended last month. The 54-year-old was available for the job after being released by Nottingham Forest, but Spurs have since appointed Robert de Zerbi.
Mr. Dyche now claims that no amount of money would have convinced him to take the job.
“I wasn’t laughing, by the way. I was telling the truth. I spend a lot of time in London, not for work but for socializing, and I just happened to be here at the same time the Tottenham job started.”
“When you come into town, people line up two and three sides, but it was never like I got caught up in the rumors. To be honest, there was a lot of speculation and buzz, and I played it right.
“No disrespect to anyone. It’s a great club and I’ve always said that, but it’s nonsense to predict the outcome just because we’re in the same city.”
Asked by talkSPORT’s Jim White if he had spoken to members of the Spurs hierarchy, Dyche replied: “No, I haven’t.”

Before explaining why he didn’t get the job anyway, he revealed:
“They could offer me a huge amount of money and I’m sure they can do it, and they’re said to have offered (Roberto) De Zerbi a huge amount of money as well.
“It would have been, what are you (Spurs) going to let me get out of me as a person? What am I going to get out of it?
“Let’s say you go in there and get the job done (without being relegated) and next season, if you don’t get into the top four and the football isn’t what they want, you’re a shitty person and they’re going to want to get you out.
“Let’s say you go in there and get the job done (without being relegated) and next season, if you don’t get into the top four and the football isn’t what they want, you’re a shitty person and they’re going to want to get you out.
“Then you’re not going to get much out of it, are you? That’s if you get the job done, because it’s not easy.
“If I don’t get the job done, then somehow the blame will be on my neck for bringing Tottenham down. That’s not good for a human being and this isn’t even a football issue at this point.
“Then I’ll go if I get the money. I’m not hungry for that stuff. I have the money.”
