CINCINNATI (AP) — Tom Barlow scored a short-handed tying goal in the 80th minute, Kevin Denke scored the winning goal four minutes into stoppage time, and FC Cincinnati beat CF Montreal 4-3 on Sunday.

Barlow scored a goal three minutes after coming on as a substitute, tying the score at 3-3. This was his first MLS goal with his new team. Denky scored his second goal of the season (also without an assist), after scoring 15 goals in 29 games last season, but it was his first in the league.

Cincinnati (2-3-0) was forced to play with a man down after Miles Robinson received a red card in the 60th minute.

Rookie Wiki Carmona scored his third goal in three games in the sixth minute, with assists from Prince Owusu and Beaude Hidalgo, giving Montreal a 1-0 lead.

Cincinnati tied the score in the 40th minute with Ender Echenik’s first goal of the season. The 21-year-old made eight appearances last season, scoring one goal. Defenders Albus Powell and Matt Miazga had assists. Powell recorded his first assist of the season, becoming the fifth player to reach 150 appearances for the club.

Owusu scored in the 45th minute for Montreal, leading 2-1 at halftime. Carmona and Ivan Jaime recorded assists. It was Owusu’s third goal of the season and 25th in 79 career games.

Evan Rulo made his first start of the season for Cincinnati and his sixth career start since 2024, totaling four saves.

Thomas Guillier, 21, finished with four saves (1-4-0) in his 13th career start for Montreal.

Cincinnati improved to 8-4-2 against Montreal, with eight wins in the series the most against any club.
