FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — Bayern Munich has lost its appeal against Luis Diaz’s one-match suspension for his red card in the Bundesliga, despite the referee admitting his call was not appropriate.

Diaz received a second yellow card for diving and was sent off. Bayern drew 1-1 with Bayer Leverkusen He also scored Bayern’s only goal on Saturday.

Due to a yellow card violation, he was not subject to video review. Christian Dingert, who watched the replay in a post-match TV interview on Sky Sports Germany, said he missed the contact between Dias and goalkeeper Janis Vlasovic, adding: “The second yellow card was very harsh and now that I see the footage, I don’t think I’ll give that rating anymore.”

However, it was not enough for the German Football Association’s sports court to overturn the automatic one-match suspension for the sending off.

Court president Stefan Oberholz ruled on Monday that Dingelt’s comments were inappropriate and not a “totally wrong” call because Diaz was seeking contact with the opposing goalkeeper.

“The decisive factor is that this case is a factual determination that can only be corrected if it is materially, clearly, undeniably and objectively wrong. That is not the case here,” he said in a statement.

Dias will serve his suspension for Saturday’s game against Union Berlin. Bayern can appeal this decision.

Bayern has other concerns in the squad after three games injury They won 6-1 against Atalanta in the Champions League last week.

As a result, Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala were both sidelined on Saturday, with a number of goalkeeper injuries. Leonard Prescott, 16 years old He will be an option for Wednesday’s return match at home against Atalanta.
