ROME (AP) — Adam Marusic’s second-half stoppage-time goal gave Lazio a 2-1 win over Sassuolo on Monday, ending a four-game winning streak in Serie A.
In the 90+3 minute, Marusic scored his first goal of the season with a header.
Lazio hadn’t won or scored in more than a month since January, but Daniel Maldini opened the scoring two minutes after kick-off.
The son of AC Milan great Paolo Maldini pounced on the loose ball and fired from close range.
However, Sassuolo’s in-form winger Armand Lauriente equalized just before half-time with a superb shot from 12 meters on goal. This brings him to two goals and four assists in his last four league games.
Lazio had a number of chances but were toothless in front of goal and looked like they would be eliminated again until Marusic appeared in the final seconds.
As a result, the capital team moved up to 10th place, one point behind Sassuolo.
It was Sassuolo’s second loss in seven games.
