Al Nasr coach Jorge Jesus said on Friday that Cristiano Ronaldo’s hamstring injury is more serious than initially thought.
Ronaldo, 41, limped off during Al Nasr’s 3-1 win over Al Faiha in the Saudi Pro League last weekend.
“In the last match, Cristiano left with a muscular injury,” Jesus told reporters. “The tests he underwent revealed that his injuries were more serious than we had anticipated.
“He will need rest and recovery. Cristiano will go to Spain for treatment, as will the other injured players. He will need treatment from a personal physiotherapist. We hope he will be back soon to help the team.”
Former Real Madrid star Ronaldo’s availability for Portugal’s friendly later this month may now be in doubt as the Reds prepare for the World Cup.
Portugal will play Mexico in Mexico City on March 28th and the United States in Atlanta on April 1st.
Ronaldo has scored 21 goals in 22 league games for Al Nasr this season.
