Tottenham lose again and face a battle to remain in the Premier League

LONDON (AP) — TOTTENHAM premier league Their hopes of staying in suffered a further blow on Thursday when they lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace.

Spurs, one of Europe’s richest teams and a founding member of the Premier League, sit just one point above the relegation zone and are without a domestic win in 2026.

Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke said: “We know that the position we are in is not where we want to be. We need to find a way out of the situation as soon as possible.” “It was difficult, but we are not in a position to make excuses. We have to work on the pitch.”

Spurs’ latest defeat was their fifth in a row and third under new manager Igor Tudor, who has been charged with turning the season around.

He watched his team capitulate in front of the home crowd at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. They conceded three goals in the first half and took the lead, but Micky van de Ven was sent off and they were down to 10 men.

Palace maximized their advantage by scoring three times in seven minutes before the break.

Ismaila Sarr scored two goals (one from the penalty spot) and Jorgen Strand Larsen the other.

This came after Solanke gave Spurs the lead in the 34th minute. Four minutes later, Palace took the lead when Van de Ven was given a red card for bringing down Sarr in the penalty area.

“I’m very disappointed, as are the fans,” Tudor said. “We know what it is now and we need to keep believing and trying.

“But after this game, I believe more than before, because I saw something within the team and in the locker room after the game. I believe when we finish, it will be good.”

Tottenham’s crisis has deepened after they won the Europa League last season, reached the knockout stages of this season’s Champions League and will face Atletico Madrid in the round of 16 next week.

However, their hopeless form in the league continues from last year, when they finished one place above the relegation zone, their lowest final position in the Premier League era.

The company’s woes also come during a tumultuous period, with seven managers appointed in less than seven years.

Tottenham have only been out of England’s top flight for one season since 1950, and have been a fixture in the Premier League since its inception in 1992.

They have won the English league twice and were a Champions League finalist in 2019.

The stadium, which seats approximately 63,000 people, is one of the most impressive stadiums in Europe and regularly hosts NFL games and top-notch music concerts.

Deloitte ranked the Spurs ninth in its latest billionaire rankings for January with $781 million in revenue. This puts Tottenham above giants such as Chelsea, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus.
