TThe eternal debate in world football is who is greater: Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi. Both players have had great careers but are so different that some legends have chosen one over the other and now the former Premier League player has joined them.
With both Ronaldo and Messi deciding to end their careers away from the spotlight of European football, it seems the time has come to analyze their careers to define who was better. The decision isn’t easy, but some people already have a favorite.
Premier League legend chooses between Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi
Michael Owen is one of the great legends of English football and currently works in sports analysis, so he has participated in several debates, including one between CR7 and Messi on ESPN.
Asked if he preferred Messi or Cristiano, Owen acknowledged the talent of both players, but said he had a favorite player who was “born to be great.”
Both are impossible not to think about. Obviously, I think Messi is the best player I’ve ever seen, but I also love how hard Ronaldo has worked to be part of the conversation.
“One was a gift from God and the other was that I had to work for it. Messi was born to be great,” Owen told ESPN.
Former Real Madrid player could become Messi’s new teammate at Inter Miami
As the world continues to make comparisons, Lionel Messi is concerned about continuing to break records and helping him, and Inter Miami are considering adding a new addition who comes from European football and was a rival to the Argentine who plays for Real Madrid.
The latest information suggests that Casemiro could head to MLS in June, at which point his contract with Manchester United will expire and the Brazilian will be looking for a new destination.
Casemiro played against Messi in the Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid and would be a fantastic signing considering Sergio Busquets’ retirement. The midfielder could end his career in MLS and strengthen a team that wants to win it all.
