HULL, England (AP) — Pedro Neto scored a hat-trick, including a direct shot from a corner kick, as Chelsea defeated Hull City 4-0 in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday.
Wrexham also defeated Ipswich 1-0 in an all-Championship clash to reach the fifth round for the first time in 29 years.
Hull and Chelsea have met eight times in the FA Cup, with Chelsea emerging victorious each time. The Premier League side took control from the start and hosts Hull had no intention of halting their incredible run.
Pedro Neto’s crisp shot from just outside the box gave Chelsea the lead going into half-time, and his low corner weaved through a crowd six minutes into the second period and into the goal.
After 3-0 minutes, young Brazilian Estevan side-footed home from 12 meters remaining, and Pedro Neto brilliantly scored the fourth goal.
“Pedro Neto is a great player,” Liam Delap, who had three assists, told TNT Sports. “He is playing in a position that he is not used to, but he showed his quality.
Wrexham roll-on
Wrexham will find out who they will face next for a place in the quarter-finals at Monday’s draw.
Josh Windass’ goal separated Wrexham and Ipswich in the first half, but he couldn’t get a shot on target.
Both teams are competing for promotion to the Premier League. Ipswich were third and wanted an immediate return to the league they left last summer. Wrexham were in sixth place, seven points behind, and were aiming for a fourth successive promotion to the top tier for the first time in their 158-year history.
Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna told BBC Wales: “We started well in both halves but just couldn’t find the goals.” “In the second half, we tried everything but couldn’t get back into the game.
