An agreement signed on Wednesday between Madrid, UEFA and the influential European football club association said principles had been agreed “which will also help resolve legal disputes”.

The announcement was made as European football leaders met in Brussels on the eve of UEFA’s annual general meeting of its 55 member federations.

The statement referred to “months of discussions in the best interests of European football” and said the principle for the future was “the use of technology to enhance the fan experience”.
